UniServity - Capita partnership delivers great news to schools

UniServity, the leading BECTA Learning Platform provider, and Capita SIMS, the market leader in Management Information Systems to the Education and Children’s Services Sector, have announced a landmark partnership which will accelerate the realisation of the Government’s vision of a fully integrated Management Information System (MIS) and Learning Platform for the benefit of schools, learners, parents and carers.

Local Authorities (LAs) and schools will benefit from the simplified management and reduced workload of integrating ‘real-time’ Capita SIMS.net pupil data directly into the dynamic teaching and learning environment of the UniServity cLc (connected Learning communities) Learning Platform.

The integration will provide a single point of entry for teachers, administrators, parents and carers to access all the information they need to monitor each child’s learning and attainment progress; including pupil assessment, attendance, timetables, behavioural data, homework set, and potential access to the learner’s personalised online learning environment. The integration will also provide an invaluable communications tool between schools, teachers, learners, parents, carers and other stakeholders within the secure environment of the cLc.

The partnership will greatly enhance the benefits of choosing the UniServity cLc Learning Platform in the 22,000 schools already using the Capita SIMS suite of products. Schools in over 90 LAs already using the UniServity cLc to transform teaching and learning will also benefit from the most integrated Learning Platform and MIS system available.

UniServity partner Local Authorities and schools already using the cLc will receive regular communication in the next few months, with schools reaping the benefits of the integration from September 2008, and full integration by December 2008, if not sooner.

Alan Wood, CEO, UniServity commented: “This partnership unites two leading education partners who are both passionate and committed to supporting teaching and learning, and more importantly the way people learn. The new partnership will see the development of the most integrated solution for managing pupil data, supporting learning, and sharing information with parents and other key stakeholders.”

Phil Neal, Capita SIMS Director, stated "Schools are under constant pressure to raise pupil achievement through personalised learning. Linking the UniServity Learning cLc Platform with SIMS will ensure teachers can get hold of the pupil achievement information they need to create learning materials for the Learning Platform that will target pupils' weaknesses and develop their strengths. Students will benefit from this targeted approach and from the ability to see how they are progressing towards their targets whenever they logon."
